Chef Jamie Lynch’s culinary journey began at 16, washing dishes in a Massachusetts bar and grill, where he quickly fell in love with the fast-paced kitchen life. His passion for food grew as he worked at a from-scratch Mexican restaurant and studied at the New England Culinary Institute. An externship at Michael Mina’s Aqua in San Francisco fueled his ambition to train under top chefs, which led him to prestigious kitchens like Le Cirque 2000 and Café Boulud in New York, where he refined his skills under Andrew Carmellini. In 2002, after 9/11, Lynch relocated to Charlotte, where his focus shifted to sustainable, local ingredients after meeting farmer Sammy Koenigsberg. This connection inspired him to open 5Church in 2012. Since then, Lynch has earned numerous accolades, including Cheftestant at Top Chef on Seasons 14 and 17 (All Stas). He was also voted ‘Best Chef’ for five years in Charlotte Magazine's BOB (Best of the Best) Awards. In his spare time, Lynch enjoys riding motorcycles and spending time with his teenaged son.
