How to Create Snapchat Custom Audiences

Build custom audiences for Snapchat to target specific set of users.

Custom Audiences allow you to reach specific users based on data that is unique to your business, product, or service. Users can create the following types of Snapchat custom audiences from Sprinklr to target users who have interacted with their website/app/profile/ad in the past -

  • Customer List Audiences 

  • Website Custom Audiences 

  • Mobile App Custom Audiences 

  • Ad Engagement Audiences 

  • Profile Engagement Audiences

Enablement Note: The use of this capability requires that Sprinklr Marketing (Ads) be enabled in your environment. To learn more about Sprinklr Marketing (Ads), please work with your Success Manager

​Before you begin

Familiarize yourself with how to create a Custom Audience in Audience Manager.

To Create Snapchat Custom Audiences

  1. Open a new tab and go to Sprinklr Marketing > Advertising > Audience Manager.

  2. Click +Create Audience in the top right corner.

  3. Select Create Custom Audience from the drop down.

  4. Select Snapchat as the channel and the ad account for which you want to create the audience.

  5. Follow the steps below to create different types of Snapchat custom audiences in the Targeting Details section.

    A Customer List matches your customer data (email, mobile advertiser ID, or phone number) with our community. With Customer List Audiences, you can easily upload your customer lists, view audience insights (such as the number of matched users), edit and remove audiences, and create Lookalikes from your uploaded data.

    You can create a Customer List audience by either uploading a data file or entering data manually-

    • Upload Data File

      1. Click on Upload Data File and scroll down to the Custom Audience Details section.

      2. In the Select Action field, you will find Add Users selected by default. This is because you are required to manually upload a file containing customer details.

      3. Drag and drop your customer list file or click browse to upload it. The file must be in xlsx, xls, txt, or csv format and contain the following columns:

        Column Name (Case Sensitive)

        Description

        Emails

        Email Address of the user you want to target

        Phone Numbers

        Phone number of the user you want to target

        Mobile Advertiser IDs

        Mobile Advertiser Id of the user you want to target

      4. You can also download a sample file and fill in the audience details.

    • Upload data Manually

      1. Click on Upload Data File and scroll down to the Custom Audience Details section.

      2. In the Select Action field, you will find Add Users selected by default. This is because you are required to manually upload a file containing customer details.

      3. Select the type of data (Email, Phone Numbers, or Mobile Ad IDs) you want to upload and enter the corresponding information in the fields provided.

    Website Custom Audiences represent a group of high-intent individuals who have directly engaged with your website in the past. Snapchat retains users who have engaged with your website (Website Custom Audiences) for 30 days by default, except for audiences associated with the Pixel Sign Up event, which are retained for 13 months by default.

    To create a Website Custom Audience in Sprinklr, follow these steps:

    1. Click on Website Events and scroll down to the Custom Audience Details section.

    2. Select the Pixel you want to use from the dropdown.

    3. Choose the Interactions you want users to have taken on your website.

    4. Select a Duration (how many days back you’d like to include the actions taken).

    Self-Serve Mobile App Custom Audiences are available to any app advertiser configured with a mobile measurement partner (MMP). To unlock access to this feature, configure a Snap App ID and connect it to your ad account in Ads Manager. You create these Mobile App Custom Audiences from in-app events that you set up during your mobile measurement partner integration.

    Follow the steps below to create a Mobile App Custom Audience in Sprinklr:

    1. Click on Mobile App Events and scroll down to the Custom Audience Details section.

    2. Select your App from the dropdown.

    3. Choose the Interactions you want users to have taken on your app.

    4. Select a Duration (how many days back you’d like to include the actions taken).

    Profile Engagement Custom Audience segments target users who have engaged with your Public Profile and organic content. To create this audience, your Public Profile must be linked to an ad account. 

    Follow these steps to create a Profile Engagement Audience in Sprinklr:

    1. Click on Profile Engagement and scroll down to the Custom Audience Details section.

    2. In the Profile field, select the Public Profile you want to use for the audience.

    3. In the Audience Definitions field, select the audience you want to create.

    4. Choose the Actions you want users to have taken on your profile.

    5. Select a Duration (how many days back you’d like to include the actions taken).

    Ad Engagement Audiences provide a way to target users who have taken a specific action on ads with your ad account or specific campaign(s) within your ad account. Users who have engaged with your ads will be retained for 13 months by default. 

    Follow these steps to create an Ad Engagement Audience in Sprinklr:

    1. Click on Ad Engagement and scroll down to the Custom Audience Details section.

    2. Select an Audience Definition from the options listed below:

      • Clicked on an Image or Video Ad

      • Completed a Top Snap Video Ad

      • Opened a Story Ad

      • Shared or saved a Lens or Filter

      • Were served a paid impression

      • Submitted a native lead form

    3. Select a Source Type:

      • In this ad account

      • In a specific campaign

      • In a specific ad set

  6. Tag any required custom fields to your audience in the Custom Fields section.

  7. In the Visibility and Permissions section, assign view and edit access for your audience to selected users/user groups.

  8. Click Save in the bottom right corner to save your Snapchat custom audience and use it when creating ad campaigns through Ads Composer/Ads Manager.
