Introduction to Google RBM

Updated

Note:

  • The integration of Google RBM is currently underway and has limited availability at this time.

  • Brands are solely responsible for reaching out to carriers directly to sign up for their services. Sprinklr will not be able to facilitate carrier services; this must be managed by the brand.

Google RBM (RCS) is a messaging channel that enhances traditional SMS by integrating features like branding, rich media, interactivity, and analytics. This allows businesses to deliver branded, interactive mobile experiences directly within the default messaging app, provided the device is RCS enabled. Notably, Google RBM supports only business-initiated messaging.

Key Features of RCS Chats

  • Typing Indicators: Shows when someone is typing.

  • Data Connectivity: Messages can be sent via mobile data and Wi-Fi.

  • Rich Media Sharing: Allows the sharing of files and high-resolution photos.

RCS chats use the Rich Communication Services protocol, operating over Wi-Fi and mobile data, and are supported by Google or your mobile carrier. This article specifically focuses on RCS chats provided by Google.

Note: RCS chats are only available for certain devices, service providers, and carriers.
