Direct Photo/Video Publishing to Instagram Business Accounts (Sprinklr Distributed)

Instagram supports direct publishing of photo/video through business accounts. Sprinklr users can create and publish the photo/video post directly from Sprinklr’s web platform to their Instagram business accounts with the help of New Publisher.

Note

Direct Publishing to Instagram requires you to add your Instagram Business Account in the Sprinklr platform. 

Before You Begin

Before accessing Instagram Business Insights, you first need to link your Instagram Business Account via Sprinklr. For more information, see Create and Link an Instagram Business Profile.

To Publish Instagram Posts Using Quick Publisher

Distributed users can also publish Instagram posts through the quick publisher.

  1. Log into the Distributed environment.
  2. Click the Publisher icon clipboard_eb6a2b380b75418e0d8ec20472651c812.png  in the bottom right corner.
  3. Select the Instagram account
  4. Click the Image/Video uploader.(Only photos/videos can be posted)
  5. In the Media Uploader window, select the image or video you want to post.
  6. Click Publish in the bottom right corner.

  7. You can also schedule your post for a future date and time by clicking the clipboard_e478363ba41386536e26e6f12d7d00be3.png Schedule Post in the bottom left corner. Select the month, date, and time of publishing. Click Apply to save your changes.

  8. Click Schedule in the bottom right corner.

 

To Direct Publish to Instagram

  1. Log into the Distributed environment.
  2. Click the Publisher icon clipboard_eb6a2b380b75418e0d8ec20472651c812.png  in the bottom right corner.
     
  3. Click the Expand icon clipboard_e500e4e944f2782c4f1eb8fb23f983fe7.png to open the Smart Publisher.

  4. In the Create Post window, search and select the required Instagram Business account(s) in the Select Accounts field. You can also use Advanced Search to narrow your searches by a series of different filters.  
  5. Select the Type of Message from the drop-down menu. The following Types of Messages are available for direct publishing:
    1. Photo
    2. Video

  6. If you wish, enter content or hashtags under the First Comment box.


    Tip 

    • The First Comment is great for hashtags or any other information that you might not want to show initially within your caption.
    • Instagram only allows 30 hashtags per post - this is counted across captions and comments. For example, if you add 20 hashtags in your caption and another 20 in your first comment, the comment will not be posted. 
    • Character Limits for the First Comment box is 2200 characters.
  7. Select a campaign from the Campaign drop-down menu to associate your post with. You can also set your campaign as default by clicking Set as Default.
  8. Select a sub-campaign from the Sub-Campaign drop-down menu to associate your post with.
  9. Select Tags and Social Bars from the drop-down menu respectively.
  10. You can select URL Shortener to shorten every link that you paste in your message. This helps you make the most of the character limit.
  11. Apply Properties to the post.
  12. Under Approval, set an Approval Type for your post. You can also add an ApprovaNot
  13. The preview of the post will render on the right pane. Also, you can click the Preview icon Space_Icon_Preview.png in the bottom left corner if you have minimized the Create Post window.


    Tip 

    Both Mobile and Desktop preview is available for the Instagram post.

  14. Click Post in the bottom right corner to publish the post on the selected Instagram account immediately. If you are not ready to publish and want to save your post as a draft, click Save as Draft.
  15. You can also schedule your post for a future date and time by clicking the  Schedule Post in the bottom right corner. Select the month, date, and time of publishing. Click Apply to save your changes. 
  16. To continue publishing the post, check the given Publish Another box at the bottom.

To Direct Publish to Instagram Photo Post

Tag People or a Business in a Photo & Instagram Location Tagging is a DP controlled capability.

 
  1. Click Photo to add a photo from the Media Uploader (or Upload Photo to select media to upload from your device).
  2. Enter a Caption for your selected photo. Next, click the Emoji Picker icon from the Content box to open the emoji menu. Use the icons at the top to browse categories, or search the emoji. Click your chosen emoji, and it'll be added to your description. 


    Tip 

    Character Limits for the Description is 2200 characters.

  3. After you've selected a photo, click Tag people below the photo in the left corner of the Content box.QuickPublisher_InstagramPhoto_TagPeople.png
  4. In the Tag people window, click on the person or object in the photo that you want to tag. 
  5. Enter the correct and complete Instagram account handle and then press enter on your keyboard to verify the account handle. Sprinklr will only verify if the Instagram account handle entered is a valid Instagram account or not.QuickPublisher_Instagram_TagPeople.gif

Note

  • Due to API limitation, auto-completion of the handle is prohibited, so make sure to either copy-paste the handle or enter the complete and correct handle.
  • The post will not be published in case of invalid Instagram account handles. 
  • You can only tag public profiles and business accounts. 
  • You can tag 20 Instagram accounts to one image post. 
  1. Click Tag in the bottom right corner of the Tag People window.
  2. Click Add Location below the photo in the left corner of the Content box. Enter a location to add to your post. Type at least 3 characters of the location to search.QuickPublisher_Instagram_Location.gif
     


Tip 

You can also use a public Facebook event/page as a location. 

  1. Click Tag Products below the photo in the left corner of the Content box. For more information, see Shoppable Store.

To Direct Publish to Instagram Video Post

  1. Log into the Distributed environment. Under Create Post, click Share something with your audience

  3. In the Create Post window, search and select the required Instagram Account in the Select Accounts field. You can also use Advanced Search to narrow your searches by a series of various filters.

    Note

    You can Pin your favourite and frequently used Account(s) and Account Group(s). You will not have to go through the hassle of adding the same account every time you publish a post. This will lead to quick publishing and increase efficiency.

  4. Select the Type of Message as Video from the drop-down menu. Selecting the Type of Message as Video from the drop-down menu in the Publisher
  5. Under Publishing Type, either select Direct Publish or Publish Via Mobile. 
  6. Click Video to add a video from the Media Uploader (or Upload Video to select media to upload from your device).
  7. After adding the video, you can change the thumbnail for the video. For more information, see To Change Thumbnail of the Video.

    Note

    For Instagram direct publishing of video, you are required to select a thumbnail from video frames only. If the thumbnail is not selected from video frame you will receive the below warning and no custom thumbnail will be added for the video post.

  8. In the Add Caption to your Video, Enter the caption to your video in the Content box with a limit of 2200 characters. In the bottom right corner of the Content box, you will see a number representing the number of characters remaining for the caption. Next, click the Emoji Picker icon from the Content box to open the emoji menu. Use the icons at the top to browse categories, or search the emoji. Click your chosen emoji, and it'll be added to your caption.
  9. Click Add Location and enter a location to add to your post. Type at least 3 characters of the location to search. Clicking Add Location and entering a location to add to your post
  10. After you've selected a video, click Tag Products inside the Content box in the right corner. 
    1. If you wish to insert a single link, select Add Link from the drop-down menu.
    2. Next, enter the shoppable link and click Save.
    3. If you wish to tag multiple products in the photo, select Add Products from the drop-down menu.
    4. In the Tag Product window, click on the object in the video that you want to tag. 
    5. In the Add a Link to the Product pop-up window, fill in the required details and click Save.
    6. To tag another object in the photo, click on the object in the photo and repeat Step No. 9
    7. Once you finish tagging all the products in the photo, click Tag in the bottom right corner.
  11. If you wish, enter content or hashtags under the First Comment box.

    • By default, auto-preview will be muted. You have an option to unmute the video. 
  17. Click Post in the bottom right corner to publish the post on the selected Instagram account immediately. If you are not ready to publish and want to save your post as a draft, click Save as Draft.
  18. You can also schedule your post for a future date and time by clicking the  Schedule Post in the bottom right corner. Select the month, date, and time of publishing. Click Apply to save your changes. 
  19. To continue publishing the post, check the given Publish Another box in the bottom.

FAQs

Can we direct publish from a personal Instagram account?
No, you can only use Business Instagram Profile to directly publish from within the Sprinklr platform.
 
What are the recommended aspect ratio and file size of the photo media type?
The photo's aspect ratio must be between 1.91:1 and 4:5. The file size of the photo should not exceed 60 MB. If the software takes longer than 10 seconds to upload an image then the endpoint will timeout.
 
What is the recommended photo resolution?
If the image resolution of the photo is at a high resolution, then it will be sized down to 1080 pixels. If the image resolution of the photo is lesser than 150x150, then the image may get scaled. The Scaled Image type enlarges or reduces the physical size of the image by changing the number of pixels it contains.
 
Can you publish stories and carousel post types for Business Instagram Profile from the Sprinklr platform? 
No, only the direct publishing of photo and video media type is supported currently.
