Sina Weibo Capabilities and Limitations

Note: Unfortunately, Sina Weibo has limited its functionality (under the PIPL laws) to all Social Media partners. The following limitations will exist:

  • Sina Weibo will continue to impose a limit of 150 API Calls per day per account (Typically 2000-3000 API Calls were being made per account before restrictions)

  • Impact of reduced limit:

    • There will be a delay in the inflow of messages/ comments/ likes/ reporting metrics.

    • We will not be able to guarantee the inflow of 100% posts/ comments.

    • Clients would not be able to reply/ publish in real-time.

Sina Weibo Phrase Support in Query Formation

 

  • While making a query for the Sina Weibo topic, you can now group keywords to form phrases.

  • Keywords can be grouped as shown in the GIF above. You can group one or more than more keywords by clicking on + icon in the query field.

Sina Weibo Limitations

  • Cannot use YouTube assets as YouTube is not allowed in China.

  • Due to restrictions in how Weibo allows Enterprises to utilize third-party platforms like Sprinklr to manage their social activity, there are some aspects of Weibo integration that are the responsibility of the Enterprise to address. This includes but is not limited to applying for Corporate-Level status.

  • Unable to receive a brand's owned feed, this includes the posts from the accounts that the brand follow

  • Unable to receive posts / comments where the brand is mentioned

  • Receiving profiles that fall in the followers/followings section of the brand

  • UGC approval for comments is impacted

  • Reporting: Receiving reporting data including comment count, repost count, attitudes count and read count

  • Retrieving posts data in bulk based on Weibo ID

Sina Weibo Listening Limitations

  • Only OR & AND conditions are allowed.

  • Maximum of 20 keywords can be used per topic.

  • Each keyword cannot have more than 24 characters.

  • Numeric keywords are not allowed.

  • Backfill support is not present for Sina Weibo as a listening source.

  • NEAR and Proximity operators are not allowed.

  • Advanced version of the query builder is not available.

  • Usage of keyword lists within the query is not allowed.

  • Maximum number of Sina Weibo keywords configured per environment, across all topics, is limited to 200.
