Copy Paste Troubleshooting

Updated

If you're having issues with copy and paste in Task Sheet View, it might be due to the reasons listed in this table. Ensure you're not making these common errors while copy-pasting.

Issue

Reason

Blank cells after using copy-paste

When copy-pasting values from one column to another, ensure that there isn't a mismatch between field types. For example, you cannot copy values from a single line text type column and paste it into a date type column. If you attempt to do so, the cell you're pasting into will become blank.

Cells still show old values even after pasting new values

This usually happens when you're trying to paste new values into an uneditable column type. Task ID, Created by, Modified by, Created Time, Modified Time, and Last Comment columns cannot be edited. Pasting new values into such columns will have no effect.

Unable to paste all inline values from one single/multi-select column to another.

Ensure that you have permission to create inline values in columns. If you're trying to copy inline values from a column and paste them in another column, where those values don't exist, you must have Admin or Owner level permissions in that Project. This is because new inline values need to be created for this action to work.

Unable to paste to multiple non-consecutive cells

If you have copied multiple consecutive cells, you can only paste the values from these cells in other consecutive cells. You cannot copy non-consecutive cells. If you have only copied a single cell, you should be able to paste the same value in non-consecutive cells.
