Effective Jan 1, 2020 Twilio provides a named / designated porting manager to manage and execute your port requests for a service fee. Note that this fee is on top of applicable carrier porting fees (for non-US  porting). All requests are subject to approval.

2. What is a carrier porting fee and how much is it? 

In some cases, Twilio’s carrier partners charge a fee in order to port numbers to their networks. Here are the carrier porting fees that Twilio charges for each phone number type.

3. Why is there such a large range on carrier porting fees? 

The norms for porting vary based on the country. Where Twilio charges a “carrier porting fee”,  we are passing on the charges that we incur from our carrier partners for porting in that specific country. 

4. Do I have to sign up for Custom Porting Services to port a number? 

For ports in countries under standard porting, submit ports through Console for the US, and through customer support at porting@twilio.com for certain non-US countries without a fee. However, they go through the general queue and you do not have a designated resource to work with for project planning or port scheduling. If you have a sensitive port or an exclusive access port, sign up for Custom Porting Services. 

5. What is an exclusive access port? 

Twilio is constantly exploring new phone number types to port. With Ongoing Porting and One-time Managed Port services, our Twilio representative work with you to provide exclusive access to these services. 

6. Does “Ongoing Porting Service” include exclusive access ports? 

Yes. By signing up for the Ongoing Porting Service, customers receive support on exclusive ports. Customers also receive priority access to additional countries as they become available. 

7. Does “Ongoing Porting Service” include off hours ports? 

Customers who purchase the Ongoing Porting Service schedule US ports from 8AM-5PM PST (standard hours are 8:30AM-10:30AM PST), and after-hours depending on supportability. For international ports, scheduling varies based on the specific country.
