Estimated Clicks Metric in Reporting

Updated

Estimated Clicks previously referred to as Filtered Clicks, is a metric in Reporting Insights. Many actions can result in a click on a link, such as a person clicking the link in the post, a known search engine or bot crawling the social network to index content, a widget loading a photo from a link on Twitter and so on. Sprinklr's estimated clicks metric shows you all of these clicks except for those that are from a known bot. This metric will differ from the post-level metric Total Click in a number of ways. Estimated Clicks is the total number of clicks minus:

  • repeat clicks by a single IP address

  • clicks by known automated bots

  • clicks by web crawlers

Estimated Clicks will be significantly lower than total clicks, especially for Twitter. Estimated Clicks are likely to be lower than clicks reported by web analytics solutions like SiteCatalyst and Google Analytics. However, Estimated Clicks are more representative of what you would think of as unique, human clicks.

To calculate or grab the click counts for URL shorteners you must consider the following scenarios:

  • If a URL is shortened elsewhere and then the shortened URL is published from Sprinklr, then the click counts will not be available unless the URL shortener account is authenticated within Sprinklr.

  • If a URL is shortened elsewhere and then published natively, then Sprinklr will still grab the click counts provided the account is authenticated within Sprinklr.
