Introduction to Boolean queries & operators
Updated
Boolean queries and operators play an important role during topic creation and fetching the information you wish to analyze. Whenever you create a topic, you have the option to set up the query either using Basic or Advanced operations.
Query Setup: Basic mode
A query is a set of keywords constructed using simple search operators that defines what messages will be fetched into your topic. You will be able to see the following three sections as soon as you navigate to Basic Mode.
Any – The query will look for any of the keywords/phrases which are mentioned in the tab while fetching the topic. It is represented using the OR operator.
All – The query will look for all of the keywords/phrases which are mentioned in the tab in the fetched messages. It is represented using the AND operator.
None – The query will exclude these keywords whenever a search operation is initiated for a topic. It is represented using the NOT operator.
At the bottom of the screen, a query is automatically generated for the keywords you wish to search using boolean operators.
On the right-hand side of the screen, you will be able to see the list of mentions found in association with your query.
