API Limitations for Twitter

Settings

  1. Due to API Limitations, you cannot track whether a client's outbound content is favorite.

  2. Posting videos to Twitter is supported by the Sprinklr platform and you can also upload images in jpeg, jpg, gif, and png.

  3. Cannot pull in protected tweets if the Twitter User has their profile settings to private.

  4. Cannot track the Favorites of the Client's outbound content.

  5. Cannot pull in protected tweets if the Users have private profile settings.

  6. Cannot view who has unfollowed brand accounts.

Engagement

  1. Audience Profile Information, including user IDs, collection of user IDs the user if following, and user IDs following the user, relationship between brand and user such as following/follower and recent Tweets.

  2. Shorten links in Direct Messages without getting flagged as Malware.

  3. Tag Users in photos.

  4. 180 character limit of Twitter keyword searches per Account.

  5. Limited to 180 search queries on Twitter every 15 minutes.

Character Limits for publishing to Twitter

  1. By default, the user tweet can be 280 characters. You can create X thread posts, to post longer tweets.

  2. Custom character limits can be set for a client/ account.

  3. Photo, GIF, and video attachments do not count towards the character limit in a Tweet.

  4. URL utilizes 23 characters of permissible character count, irrespective of the length of the URL.

Twitter API Rate Limits

  1. Direct messages (daily): The allowed limit for sending DMs per account is 200 in a 15-minute window, which amounts to 19200 DMs per account in a day.

  2. Tweets: 2,400 per day. The daily update limit is further broken down into smaller limits for semi-hourly intervals. Retweets are counted as Tweets.

  3. Changes to account email: 4 per hour.

  4. Following (daily): The technical follow limit is 1,000 per day. Please note that this is a technical account limit only, and additional rules are prohibiting aggressive following behavior.

  5. Following (account-based): Once an account is following 5,000 other users, additional follow attempts are limited by account-specific ratios.

Note -

  1. Did you know that the attached images and videos no longer affect your character count? When you add attachments like photos, GIFs, videos, or polls, that media will no longer count as characters within your Tweet. This is a great option for utilizing SAM for approved images and publishing your Tweets through Sprinklr.

  2. Keep in mind that URLs posted within a Tweet will still be counted toward the 140-character limit. A good rule of thumb to keep in mind: if the content is added with a click, it is unlikely to add to the character count. If the content is added through text entry (typing or pasting), it will likely add to the character count.
