Execute a Rule via Macro

Updated

Overview

Sprinklr now allows Rules to be executed through a macro action. Using this feature, your saved Rules can be applied to messages by applying a macro. You can use this feature to apply On Demand Rules to messages. On Demand Rules, unlike standard Rules, do not run continuously and allow you to selectively apply the rule to messages of your choice, giving you more control over the messages that are routed through a given Rule.

Create a Macro with an Execute Rule Action

  1. In the top navigation bar, in the Administration drop-down menu, select Settings.

  2. Click the  icon in the upper left corner and under Manage Client, select Macros.

  3. Click Add Macro in the upper right corner to create a new macro.

  4. Enter the basic details for your macro, including a name and optional description. In the Apply Macro On field, select Message as the asset on which the macro can be applied.

If Case Management is enabled in your environment, you can also opt to select Case as the asset on which the macro can be applied.

  5. Under Set Actions, click Add Actions in the Automated Actions section. From the drop-down selections, choose Select a rule to execute.

  6. In the Values field, choose the rule you wish to apply in your macro's action.

  7. Once chosen, your selected rule will appear in the macro's Summary of Actions on the right side of the Add Macro window. If satisfied with your new macro, click Add.

Roles & Permissions

In order to access Settings, where macros are configured, you'll need to be an Admin of your Sprinklr environment. Additionally the following permissions control your ability to view and create Rules (note that you can create macros with an execute rule action without the ability to create rules, however, if you wish to configure the Rule executed, you'll need these Rule permissions). To learn more about Roles and Permissions, see Roles and Permissions. Contact your System Administrator if you need permissions assigned to you.

Permission Type Permission Category Permission Description
Setup Rule Engine View This permission allows users view Rules, which can be selected in the macro action Select rule to execute.
Setup Rule Engine Create This permission allows you to create new Rules.
