Introduction

Sprinklr Surveys effectively enable respondents to rank items using the rank order question type.

Steps to add Rank Order Question to Library

  1. Go to Builder > Question Library.

  2. Drag and Drop Rank Order Questions at the desired place.

Formats

The rank order question offers two different response formats to choose from:

  1. Drag and Drop: Respondents will need to arrange the given options in ascending order of rank.

For example, if there are five options to rank, the item at the top would be considered rank 1, while the item at the bottom would be rank 5.

  2. Dropdown: In this format, a dropdown menu with all possible ranks will be available for each option item. Respondents will need to select the rank they wish to assign to each item. The dropdown option is more user-friendly.

Note: Each option item must have a unique rank. If a respondent chooses a rank that has already been assigned, the new selection will override the previous one, clearing the earlier assignment.

Steps to add Image to Answer Options

Sprinklr Surveys offer three different answer options to display choices:

  1. Text Only: This format allows only text options.

  2. Text and Image: If the option has both text and image this option can be used.

  3. Image only: This format displays only images to respondents.

Note: All 3 answer options are available in both answer formats- Drag and drop and Dropdown.

Choice Randomization:

  1. The order of options can be randomized for each respondent. There are three formats available for applying this randomization.

    1. Display answers in a random order: As the name implies, all available options will be shown in a random sequence each time a respondent takes the survey.

    2. Present only a set number of choices: By selecting this format, only a specified number of options (x) will be shown to each respondent from the total available options (n). You will need to provide a value for x to configure this format.

    3. Randomly flip choices: This format randomly reverses the order of options for each respondent.

  2. A small icon in the builder indicates whether choice randomization is applied to a multiple-choice question.

Rank All

  1. Enabling this option will require respondents to rank all available options. In the drag-and-drop format, all ranks are generated by default. This option works well with the dropdown format as well.

  2. Rank All can only be enabled if the question is required( Turn on mark required from question settings).

Mark as Required

Enabling Mark as required option will make the question compulsory for the respondents.

Steps to add Rank Order Question Resonses

  1. Go to Response Tab.

  2. Navigate to Rank Order Type Question using Question Title.

Each rank order question would have N columns in responses tab where N is the total number of option items available in that question. Each column would represent an option item.

For example, if there are four option items to rank in a question, the responses tab will display four columns for that question.

Each cell in a column would have the rank allotted to that option item for the particular response.

Reporting Rank Order Response

The visualization for the rank order question in the Standard Report is shown below.

Each option features multiple stacks that represent the frequency of each rank assigned to it.
